Treat Williams' Wife of 35 Years Stayed with Him Until His End Inside Their Secluded Life at His

Known for his role as Dr. Andrew Brown in the 4-season-long TV show "Everwood," Treat Williams was born on December 1, 1951, and pursued his interest in drama and musicals while in college.

He began his career with Broadway performances, which started when he understudied a role in "Grease." He worked in his debut film, "Deadly Hero," after starring in a musical, "Over Here."

"It was a baptism by fire, but it was great," Treat described his initial Broadway experience. In the following years, he gave many stellar Broadway performances while working in movies, including "The Ritz," "The Eagle Has Landed," and "Hair."

Not only did his role as "George Berger" get him a lot of fame, but it also allowed him to make it to the Golden Globe Awards nominations. Most people remember Treat for his acting in "Hair."

Even after turning old, the actor did not stop accepting roles. He appeared as Mick O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores, aired from 2016 to 2022. His role in "Blue Bloods" also gained popularity.

After enjoying a successful career of about 50 years, Treat unfortunately died in a motorcycle accident at 71 on June 12, 2023. His agent, Barry McPherson, told PEOPLE he was "killed," stating:

"He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off."

Treat Williams Loved Spending Time with His Family

Treat passed away in an accident in Vermont, leaving behind his wife of 35 years, Pam Van Sant, and his two children, Gill and Elinor Williams. The 68-year-old actress first met Treat while she was working as a waitress in a restaurant.

The couple hit it off and tied the knot in 1988 before welcoming their babies in the following years. Van Sant was a doting mother to their children and a loving wife to Treat.

After marrying the actor, Van Sant often accompanied him to the red carpets of his upcoming movies and TV shows. She would stand by his side, always supporting him to achieve big things in his career.

Treat often shared photos of his family on social media. The last time he shared a photo with his beloved wife on Instagram was on Mother's Day when he was smiling at the camera with her as she held their dog.

"Hey, all you moms! Happy Mother's Day!" the actor wrote in the caption of the selfie he took while standing in front of an aircraft with his wife.

Besides being a loving and supporting husband to Van Sant, Treat was the perfect father to his children. He welcomed his son in December 1992, three years before his best friend, Henry Urgoiti's death. Devastated about losing him, the actor said:

"His death has made me very aware of how precious each day with my son is."

In September 1998, Treat became a father for the second time when his daughter, Elinor, was born. As the children grew up, Treat would take them to the sets of his movies and TV shows.

The siblings were exposed to the world of glamor from a young age as they accompanied their father to various red carpets. The family of four would often pose for the camera on such occasions, preserving their special moment.

Gill studied at New York University and pursued music after graduating. Treat felt immensely proud of his son's achievement, so he posted a photo of him to tell the world about it.

Meanwhile, Ellnor studied at The University of Vermont and moved to Los Angeles afterward. However, that did not mean the father-daughter duo did not spend time together. They often went on trips together and posted photos on social media.

While living in a farmhouse in Manchester, Vermont, Treat used to celebrate Christmas iuniquely He revealed that everyone would decorate their tractors like Christmas trees and drive them around.

Besides celebrating Christmas with his neighbors, the Williams had a tradition of visiting a nearby vegetable market that grew Christmas trees on the land beside it. He recalled in an interview:

"You get to go and choose your tree, and then they come and cut it for you, and they tie it to the top of your car."

Living in a farmhouse benefited Treat during the pandemic because it wasn't a densely populated area. He shared his feelings about it during an interview:

"I think being on an old farm with land and able to get out and about every day makes it a lot easier than my friends in New York City."

Treat was a loving father to his children and always felt proud of their achievements. A few days before his death, he posted a photo with Elinor, telling her how much he missed her.

Treat Williams Appreciated the Farmhouse Life

Treat spent the last few years of his life living at the 200-year-old farmhouse that he loved. The actor always had good things to say about his life away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

He often posted about his farmhouse life on social media, sharing pictures of the beautiful landscape around him. In an interview, he said he felt grateful to live in a peaceful and scenic place, stating:

"I've always had an enormous love for Vermont, both in winter and summer."

He also praised the locals for their kindness and shared that there was always something new to learn about the place. As a result, his fans were aware of his love for nature, so one of them joked about it on Twitter.

Treat recalled that when a Twitterati excitedly announced that the actor had joined Twitter, another netizen joked, saying, "No, that's a farmer in Vermont who takes pictures of old buildings and stuff."

The late actor was a doting father, a loving husband besides being a caring friend, and a kind coworker. His real-life role as a family man was the best among all the characters he had played during his career.

After learning about his tragic passing, people close to him paid tribute to him on social media. His family released an official statement sharing how "shocked" and "greatly bereaved" they felt after losing him in a crash. They said:

"Treat was full of love for his family, for his life, and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it."

The Williams asked people to let them grieve privately. Meanwhile, Treat's co-actor, James Woods, praised his sense of humor and said he was "devastated" after learning about his death.

"You will be missed. Rest in power, Treat," said Billy Baldwin in a heartfelt tweet dedicated to the late actor. Kim Cattrall also expressed her condolences to the Williams on Twitter.

"This is not real. It can't be," Melissa Gilbert said on Instagram as she shared a photo of Treat from his early days. The news of her friend's death was something she wasn't expecting.
